Myers Briggs type indicator identifies ESTJs as the Defender or Guardians. They are very strong and dependable people and perform their duty with responsibility without expecting something in return. ESTJs hold 8-12% of population.
According to Keirsey, ESTJs are civic-minded individuals who dedicate themselves to maintaining the institutions behind a smooth-running society. They are defenders of the status quo and strong believers in rules and procedures. ESTJs are outgoing and do not hesitate to communicate their opinions and expectations to others.
Characteristics of ESTJs:

ESTJs are natural leaders. They deal with challenges, risks with a pretty good strategy in work and life. As a powerful leader they influence other people with their personality. They live their live with high ethics and principal. They are very controlling and disciplined individuals, this behavior can turn them into a bully.
ESTJs think extraverted. They are very confident and firm with their decisions and do not step back. ESTJs take charges with a clear vision of the way that things should be. Their thinking functions extravert, that’s why they are very logical in the events and try to discover the truth behind the story. Their primary mode of living focused externally makes them rational and logical towards life.
Their secondary mode is introverted sensing which is quite similar to ISTJs. The constancy of primary thinking makes an ESTJ a disciplined person which can be beneficial in skills development in the arena. Authority and society value a lot to them. ESTJs prove to be respected and model citizens in the society. ESTJs may not care for lots of information regarding to a task but they are very good to execute it under their supervision.
ESTJS are not much comfortable to express their feelings. They rarely share it with others and rather ignore them. Such a weak, introverted function is best observed in facial expression, eye contact, body language, and verbally only by implication. They are very strict and do not forgive people easily. That makes them a controlling person which can be a problem as a team leader.
Careers Choices for ESTJs:
ESTJs tend to have a dominating personality. They are high ethical people with principles. Power, position and prestige should be worked for and earned. The portrait of their personality gives them many choices to be “The Boss” in any career. Their disciplined behavior helps them to get into high positions in politics and power. They put a lot of effort to whatever they do. They can be a good leader in any field.
Personal Life of ESTJs:
In personal life, ESTJs are very practical and sensible persons. They are the persons which can be relied upon in the time of emergencies. They are very good citizen and a strong member of the family. They are very loyal with their friends and family and expect others to be the same.
